Irish Organic Salmon
Atlantic Fare together with 2 Irish Salmon farms, Mannin Bay and Meitheal Eisc Teo have pioneered organic salmon farming on the west coast of Ireland. It is these raging, pristine Atlantic seas with their strong tidal currents that produce those exceptional organic salmon which are sleek in shape and firm to the touch.

The salmon are farmed in accordance with organic farming standards established by the European Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 and Regulation (EC) No 889/2008; (this European certification also gives our producers permission of usage of the French AB logo),Naturland Verband (Germany), The Irish Organic Farmers and Growers Association (IOFGA), Bio Suisse (Switzerland). Naturland are accredited by: US Dept of Agriculture (USDA)/ National Organic Programme (NOP) IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements EN 450/I/ISO 65.
Mannin Bay organic salmon
Mannin Bay was the first salmon farm to commence organic sea farming in Connemara (West Coast of Ireland). The farm is on the exposed western seaboard of Ireland. It is an area devoid of any man made industry and therefore their waters remain pristine and clean. Mannin Bay is the first salmon farm outside France to achieve the Agriculture Biologique (AB) organic certification.
Kilkerrin Bay organic salmon
Meitheal Eisc Teo is a local company in the heart of the Irish speaking Gaelteacht of Connemara. The farm is located in Kilkerrin Bay. The whole bay is known as Kilkerrin Bay in honour of Saint Ciaráin who had a holy cell in the area hundreds of years ago. The salmon are grown in the cleanest seas in Europe, in blue fast flowing waters.
What makes a salmon organic?
- A high tidal exchange rate (which is defined in the organic standards) characterise the area in which the farms are situated and ensure that sea water continually flushes through the cages and prevents the accumulation of parasites and pollutants.
- The fish are fed daily with a diet made from sustainable organic fish meal – a by –product of the Irish fishing industry.
- Animal welfare is at the core of the husbandry strategy and the fish experience life as close to the wild as possible.
- The highest possible organic standards are maintained throughout the salmon’s growing cycle, from egg to harvest.

Atlantic Fare offer a range of value added Organic Salmon products either as consumer products under our Atlantic Fare brand or as bulk products packed on ice. Depending on Customer specifications, Atlantic Fare can supply fillets, portions or steaks produced to a variety of trims, customer specifications and packaging options.
FILLETS PBI, PBO
Atlantic Fare fillets are hand trimmed to customer specification and packing options. Fillets can be produced skin off.
PORTIONS
Atlantic Fare portions are produced to customers specifications and can be supplied skin on or skin off, with or without tail pieces.
STEAKS
Atlantic Fare Steaks are produced to customers specifications and packing options.
